Programm

Gabor Schneidhoffer's journey into the exhilarating world of kitesurfing began back in 2004. Over the years, they've not only mastered the art of kiteboarding but also obtained their instructor license in 2009, marking the beginning of a fulfilling career in the industry. Throughout their tenure, they've had the privilege of working in various kites chools, honing skills and gaining invaluable insights into the nuances of this dynamic sport.

In 2016, their dream of establishing their own kite school came true as they've found the perfect spot in the picturesque landscapes of Sicily, specifically in Lo Stagnone. Here, their team are dedicated to crafting unforgettable experiences for our guests.

From providing top-notch instruction to ensuring their safety and enjoyment, they go above and beyond to create a welcoming environment where every individual can thrive and embrace the thrill of kiteboarding.

Kitesurfing

Kitesurfing is the fastest growing watersport on the world. Even competing with windsurfing, thanks to the easier portability of the equipment and in a lot of cases the faster progression in mastering the sport.

It involves flying a 4 or 5 line kite that is attached to your body by a harness on your waist. You control the power and the speed of the kite with a bar attached to the lines and you can use this power to lift you up on the board and pull you on the water.

Normally, everyone starts with a twintip board with footstraps, but later on there will be no limits. You can try the wakeboard style for tricks, or enjoy waves with strapless surfboards.

Although kitesurfing is considered to be an extreme sport, with today’s technology in kite design and safety systems, it can be one of the safest sports with professional instruction and proper gear. Since practicing kitesurfing doesn’t require strength it is purely a technical sport. Literally anyone can learn it with a bit of will and persistence.

Lage

Their kite spot is located in one of the best areas of Lo Stagnone! They have plenty of space for launching and landing the kites safely. Right in front of them, there is a huge shallow and sandy area to practice for beginners.

For advanced riders, who want to jump, it is recommended to go a bit further in, where the water is at least knee deep. There’s also an option for foiling in beautiful turquoise water just outside of the lagoon, where in South wind, they can organize downwinders.

Lo Stagnone

Kitesurfing in Lo Stagnone is as easy as it gets for beginners and for advanced riders as well. Just imagine that you can practice your tricks or to ride upwind without worrying about your board. In case you lose it, you can stand up, walk back, and grab it.

If your level is intermediate, and you cannot stay upwind yet, you can easily walk up each time you feel that you’re getting too far from where you started. This way you can practice a lot more without wasting time walking on the beach. It takes considerably less time to master the needed skills like this.

Not to mention that you can reach an independent level sooner and then you can rent equipment. Thanks to this you don’t need to spend a fortune to learn kitesurfing.

Sicily

Sicily is the largest island on the Mediterranean Sea and it is the southeast part of Italy. Thanks to its location, the weather is warm and the kitesurfing season is very long in Lo Stagnone, Marsala.

There are about 300 windy days here during the year. The temperature in spring and autumn is around 20 Celsius degrees therefore the season starts in March and goes until November.

These conditions are quite similar to Tarifa, the biggest kitesurfing destination in the World. Sicily has a big advantage though: it is not so crowded yet, so even beginners can feel safe while practicing.

Lo Stagnone offers a unique kite spot with flat, shallow water and thermic winds. These are the ingredients of the perfect kitesurfing destination. With these conditions it is easy to say that kitesurfing in Sicily is like kitesurfing in paradise.

Not only the most comfortable, but shallow waters are also the safest places to learn kitesurfing. You don’t need a rescue boat around here, you can stand up easily even in the deepest parts of the lagoon.

Verpflegung

Where to eat around Lo Stagnone

Wine Bar Il Mulino

If you have a sweet tooth, your favorite meal of the day will be breakfast in Sicily. The croissants are fluffy and filled with thick cream and the coffee is just perfect. They tried a small coffee shop the first year they came here and they are addicted ever since. It’s on the main street of the kite village, Birgi, called Il Mulino Bar. Having breakfast there is simply the best way to start the day.

Bar Di Saro

Saro is another well-known bar on the main street that was opened in 1977. They offer breakfast and lunch at the bar, and the restaurant is open for dinner.

De Vita

Less attractive from the outside, but for sure you’ll be a regular in De Vita too, once you try their specialty: Zuppa di cozze (mussle soup). This dish made of fresh mussels, tomato sauce, garlic and parsley is simple yet heavenly.

Their other favorite from the menu is the pasta with smoked ham (or shrimp) and pistachio cream sauce. De Vita also makes undoubtedly the best cannolo in town, which is a traditional Sicilian dessert made with ricotta.

This restaurant is a family business, so you can see the same faces each time you go there. Friendly service and great value for money.
