Arrive
Upon your arrival at Base Surf Lodge, you will be met by your hosts, Rob and Lou. Who will then show you around the lodge, after which you can be sure to make yourself at home.
Relax
During your 8 days with Base Surf Lodge, you can expect to sit back and relax as your surfing schedule will be organised for you. Each morning you will be able to enjoy a daily breakfast in the newly renovated chill-out lounge or out in the tropical garden with the fresh sea air.
Surf
During 7 of the days, you will have a 2-hour group surf lesson, timed once on the beach to ensure you have plenty of time to learn, practice, and improve your surfing. With the team's flexibility, the timings of your daily surf lessons will be arranged upon your arrival. This allows Base Surf Lodge to pick and chose when to go, to ensure you get the best of the tides and surfing conditions each day.
Options
Base Surf Lodge is very fortunate to be located only a short walk to both Fistral Beach and The Bay. This gives you plenty of options to get good surf for all levels and abilities of surfers.
Free time

Barbeque
When a little peckish after surfing there are many great places just out the door of the lodge to eat. Just ask Rob and Lou, who will be happy to give you all their recommendations. From local fish to good old fashioned pub grub, Newquay has it all. Plus, on one of your nights, the team will prepare and cook a barbecue for you at the lodge. And not just any barbecue, they will put on a spread!

As a couple, Lou and Rob have been running Base Surf Lodge for over seven years. In this time, they have worked hard to build it into the popular independent business that it is today. As well as the place of work Base Surf Lodge is also their home. As passionate businessmen and homeowners, they are dedicated to making the lodge as friendly and welcoming to everyone as possible. As surfers and skiers, Lou and Rob love the outdoors, to say the least. They have made a home for themselves in Newquay where they are in the ocean surfing, cliff jumping, kayaking, snorkeling or fishing every day.
Lage
Base is a long established surf lodge ideally situated overlooking Fistral Beach, the UK’s finest surf break. With ocean views and all the amenities of town just around the corner, you could not ask for a better location in Newquay. Beach barbecues, coastal walks, fresh local food, and live music events are just a few of the many attractions available on the doorstep.

The daily breakfast at Base Surf Lodge includes a range of fresh pastries, cereals, and bread. They offer yogurts and juices with fresh fruit to ensure you can start the day right. Plus they have a selection of Pukka teas and fresh cafetière coffee for you to help yourselves throughout the day.
As for the barbecue, the Base team will choose a night upon your arrival to suit you and the best weather conditions. They will provide a selection of classic barbecue style meats with sauces and buns. There will be salads and roast potatoes for you to help yourselves.
Base Lodge will also provide snacks and nibbles to keep the hunger bugs away whilst they prepare and cook the food. For those who don't eat meat, they have vegetarian and vegan options, like veggie (and halloumi) skewers. If you feel like enjoying a drink with your barbecue, feel free to pop to the shops and bring your drink of choice.

There are many great options for how to get to Base Surf Lodge. Whether you are wanting to travel by car, plane, train, taxi, or even walking and cycling, Base Surf Lodge is nice and easy to get to.
Driving direction
- Come off the A30 at the exit signposted for Newquay.
- At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto the A39 followed by the second exit onto the A392.
- Following signs to Newquay, stay on this road until you arrive at the ‘Welcome to Newquay’ roundabout.
- Turn right onto Trevemper road.
- Stay on this road all the way up to the top of the hill where Tower Road is opposite, the second exit at the roundabout.
- Drive down Tower Road and the lodge is located near the bottom of the hill on the righthand side with carparks opposite.
Arrival by airplane
Please book your flight to arrive at Cornwall Airport Newquay (NQY). Newquay is very lucky to have its own airport. This makes traveling from further afield very convenient. Newquay Airport is just located outside of town so you will need to use public transport to take you to the lodge.
There are buses which run straight from the airport to Newquay town center. From there it is just a 5-minute walk to the lodge. If you don't fancy the walk with your luggage you can pre-arrange a taxi from the airport to take you straight to the door of Base Surf Lodge.
Arrival by train
There is a regular train service from all parts of the country to Bodmin Parkway Station. From there it takes half an hour by car and taxis can be arranged for your arrival. There are connections to Newquay which just require a change at Par. Once at Newquay train station, Base Surf Lodge is only a 15-minute walk away. There is also a taxi rank at the station, or for peace of mind taxis can be prearranged.
Arrival by foot/bike
Walkers and cyclists are more than welcome at Base Surf Lodge. The lodge is ideally situated just a short walk through Newquay Golf Course from the South West Coast Path. For cyclists, the lodge has a secure garden for anybody wanting to keep bikes during their stay.
