Crazy Island is a kite, windsurf, and SUP center located at one of the windiest spots in Europe - Gokceada Island in the Aegean Sea, Turkey. The wind here is 20 to 25 knots each day and often over 30 knots. The strong wind starts from morning and in the afternoon slowly drops to light breeze 10 knots. The season in Gokeada is from May to October.
Accommodations will be in double rooms in wooden chalets nested in beautiful garden right by the beach. There is a restaurant, a cafe, a beach with beach bar, and Wi-Fi access.
Each chalet/bungalow has only one room, bathroom, and balcony.
The package includes accommodation with breakfast and a beginner's, semi beginners, or intermediate kite course for 9 hours. The beginners kite course starts with short theory about the wind, the equipment, and safety, followed by ground control, rigging, line management, and flying techniques. On the water - body drags, water starts with board, basic riding, and self-rescue.
The 9 hours course is suitable for semi beginners or intermediate riders as well. If you already have some experience with kite no mater if your experience is up to - body drag, water start or, going upwind, making small jumps and transitions, they are going to help you get to the next level in a safe fun and efficient way.
The kite course can be private nine hours or semi private in group of two, price varies. The price includes all necessary equipment. Crazy Island performs the courses with high quality brand new Naish equipment. They work with experienced instructors. Lessons are held in English, Bulgarian, and Turkish.
Gokceada is an island in the Aegean Sea. The island is the westernmost point of Turkey part of Canakkale Province, located across the Dardanelles. The island is unspoiled by tourists area with great nature, a real contradiction of your hectic urban life. Gokceada is the largest island in Turkey, with area of 279 square kilometers. Gokceada is a part of Cittaslow towns international network.
Cittaslow towns aim to be great places to live, work, and visit. The main source of income is agriculture, tourism, and fishing. The wind is north-east. This is the same well-known Meltemi which works in all the islands in the Aegean. The wind in Gokceada is accelerated by thermal and venturi effects. During the summer, there is constant wind 22 to 25 knots in the morning, which slowly falls to 6 to 12 knots in the late afternoon.
Fronts come with strong winds around 28 to 35 knots or stronger. There are two main spots in Gokceada Island - with mirror flat water (off shore wind) and spot with waves up to 1.5 to 2 meters (on shore, side on shore).
The vacation includes breakfast. The restaurant offers European and Turkish cuisine - great variate of salads and appetizers (the Turkish mezeler), different meals with meat, as well as vegetarian meals, grill, fish, pasta, the famous Turkish Gozleme, and Sigara burek as well as good choice of deserts.

Getting to Gokceada island is easy. Gokceada is only 17 miles (31 kilometers) from the mainland and takes about one and a half hour to get on the island with a ferry from Kabatepe port. During the summer, the ferries are at every 2 hours.The cost for a car is about 7 EUR for car / 10 EUR for minibus and includes all passengers.
By plane to Istanbul – you can easily find a cheap flight to Istanbul, where you have several options:
To book a transfer to Gokceada with Crazy Island Center: 120 EUR per car, takes three to four hours to the ferry.
To rent a car from Ataturk airport (also recommended). The distance from Istanbul to Gokceada is about 300 kilometers, mostly on the highway. Ataturk airport is on the European part of Istanbul, close to the high way.
To get a plane to Canakkale. You can find flights to Canakkale with Turkish airlines from the same Ataturk airport, the flight takes two and a half hours. The team will pick you up from Canakkale airport, which is only 50 kilometers from Gokceada.
The main bus station is close to Istanbul airport and reachable by taxi in 40 minutes). The bus is very comfortable and has Wi-Fi at an affordable price. It takes six to seven hours to the ferry.
