COVID-19 update (Last updated 03.12.2020)
There are still different ways to get to Costa Dulce. Here are the ones that we find most convenient:
Flying to Managua:
There are direct flights with Avianca from Miami and El Salvador. Avianca is the only airline that reliably flies to Managua at the moment (12/2020). Watch out: Other airlines say so, but actually don’t!
Through Costa Rica:
Costa Rica is open to everyone and does not require a negative Covid-19 test. You do need a specific health insurance though which you can buy per day (you can get the health insurance for example through Heymondo or the official Sagicor Insurance). You also need a filled out health pass and proof for onwards travel, for example your outward flight or a bus ticket. Equipped like that you can get a flight either to San José or to Liberia. If you can, pick Liberia, as it is closer to the border to Nicaragua. From the airport you can get a private taxi or a bus (e.g. Nicabus or Ticabus) to the border. The bus is a lot cheaper, but sometimes booked out. A private driver will help you cross the border and make sure you have everything that you need. To get into Nicaragua – no matter if via air or land border – you need a negative Covid-19 test not older than 72 hours. At the land border that test needs to be a printout on paper, not electronical.
Whichever way you’re coming into Nicaragua, we’re happy to help you arrange your travel and make that everything goes smooth.
Arrival by airplane
Please book your flight to arrive at Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) or Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA). Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) is the most straightforward option. The team will arrange your pick up and bring you straight down to the hotel.
Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) is actually a little bit closer to the hotel but there is a border to cross which means a vehicle change. The drivers will help you through the borders making for an easy border crossing. The advantages to flying through Liberia is it's quite often cheaper and there are more frequent flights.
Transportation is not included but the team does arrange a private shuttle from Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) for 110 USD and 120 USD from Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR). Since the retreats start on Saturdays, you should have someone to share the cost of the ride with so typically the price can be 35 USD and 45 USD respectively.
