This was our fifth visit to Samoa and also our fifth stay at Coconuts. Each time we visit Coconuts we bring along more family and friends, we always have the meal deal and we always leave a five star review. When paying for our stay in full a month before we arrived, we requested an upgrade as we have never had one before. We were advised that an upgrade would be offered to us upon check in - this did not occur. Another couple within our group did receive one, even though this was their very first visit. Another couple within our group who were on their third visit also received an upgrade. General Manager Lina acknowledged that we missed out on an upgrade and kindly offered us a massage each instead, much appreciated. The local people who run this place are the most beautiful people you could ever want to meet. Much can be learnt from Samoans with regard to culture, manners, and respect. On every visit we usually tip staff members discreetly. It is not compulsory to tip, but as they do a fabulous job, are not highly paid, and have families to support - they do appreciate it. Take your hand held fan to lunch and dinner, especially if there is no breeze blowing. Also take along mosquito coils to light on your balcony while enjoying after dinner drinks. The climate is hot and humid so be sure to drink lots of bottled water to keep hydrated during the day and take along a good quality sunscreen with UVA and UVB SPF30 or SPF50 protection.

Super location on wide beach frontage on southern coast of Samoa. Hotel transfer was about 45 minutes along pretty roads where you get a good sense of village houses and gardens. The resort has a margaritaville aesthetic, somehow still quite 80's even after reconstruction. This is in touches like the endless paper-based accounting, laminated rainbow menus, and so on. Food was good and the staff were visible.
The owners are on site and welcoming, engaging with customers. The beach villa we had was very spacious and comfortable, with old fashioned bamboo furnishings. The sort of outdoor bathroom was also huge, but the slippery stone steps to the sunken shower were a hazard (two falls). That could be easily fixed (we did address with the team for the future).
You can run on the local road with little traffic, but look out for dogs on their own. No menace, but be ready to stare them down. It's hot but the views and the chance to see local neighborhoods are worth it.

We stayed seven nights in a over-the water-fale and it was the best holiday ever. Nothing was too much for the staff, they went over and above what was expected, always friendly and super helpful. I did not want to leave. We celebrated our 30th anniversary and they made it the most unforgettable day ever. Thanks to everyone there, but a special thanks to Sio, Gabe, Venny, Bala, Tara, Louise. The food, service, and location is absolutely outstanding.

Our stay in Samoa and at Coconuts was very amazing. It exceeded our expectations for sure. We stayed two nights in a villa, and one night in the over-the-water suite. We both agreed that we didn't prefer one accommodation over the other. Both were unique and beautiful. Beds were very comfortable. Air conditioner worked well. No TV's, which was fine for us. The staff was very kind. Everyone introduced themselves to us throughout our stay, which was nice. We asked Peter (from the restaurant) if he could show us around the area. He hopped in the car with us and took us to some plantations and explained all about Samoan life. He took us to his village and cracked open coconuts for us. It was a really neat experience. The scenery is spectacular. There are two beautiful beaches on each side of the resort that have pure sand and are great for swimming. (The beach located directly in the resort isn't stellar for swimming, it's a little rocky) We took kayaks and snorkel gear out toward the reefs, and snorkeled for a few hours. We saw sea turtles, bright blue starfish, and a ton of beautiful fish. Neil also took us out on his boat to another reef to snorkel. He was very helpful. But honestly the best snorkeling was straight out front of the resort. That's where we saw turtles!
Our only slight critique was the level of customer service. My partner and I both work in high end hospitality, so we are particularly critical of customer service! Mainly we were just confused when we got there about where to go, and how to get to our room because there wasn't anyone working at reception. Same when we needed bug spray from the gift shop. It just seemed like when we needed someone, there just wasn't anyone there! That was the only, very minimal critique we had.
Otherwise, Coconuts was fabulous and we want to go back as soon as possible. We definitely wouldn't stay anywhere else in Samoa.
Thank you Coconuts! The accommodation is so beautiful and very relaxing. Samoa is one of the most beautiful places we have been and the staff at Coconuts are very attentive and friendly. Cultural day is an absolute must! The effort and energy all the staff put into this is amazing! Our guides for a couple of tours, - John and Tala are absolutely lovely. They both made sure to show us as much as possible of Samoa and are very easy to chat to. A special thank you to Lina for being so attentive when my partner was not feeling well. Another thank you to Sio for being one of the loveliest people we have ever met and telling us all about Samoan life! We simply cannot wait to come back to Samoa!
