"Having lived in Kenya for 10 years, I'm furious that I hadn't discovered Che Shale sooner! What an absolute gem. Tucked far away from the touristy package-deal hangouts (but only a short drive from Malindi airport), it is the most fabulous place to get away from it all and relax in peace. I went with my 2 small children and have never stayed in such a child-friendly place, not a slippery floor, sharp edge, or swimming pool in sight! There is just a vast empty beach with a gently sloping sea. I could sit on a sunbed and watch the children play for hours. I cannot recommend the place more. From the ease of booking and communications with Isabelle to the friendly staff, delicious food, and chilled vibe, it's my new favorite place in Kenya!"

"Stayed at this lazy relaxing hideout for 4 days and couldn't recommend it more. It has beautifully run, exceptional staff, super friendly owners, immaculate beach, rustic escape with the added fun of kitesurfing thrown in. Only advice would be to give the kitesurfing a go if you come here for more than three days. This is expensive, but worth it. I’m looking forward to returning again with a bigger group. Thanks again for a heavenly stay."

"There are not enough superlatives to describe this amazing place. Owned and run by the warm and welcoming Justin and Isabelle, it is quite simply a perfect place to escape and chill on a pristine, white sanded and secluded beach. And yet it is only 40 minutes from Malindi airport. The Bandas are beautifully done and extremely comfortable. The food is delicious and the entire place exudes an air of calm and relaxation. The attention to detail which Justin and Isabelle have given to absolutely every aspect of the retreat is phenomenal. The Bandas are just a few meters from the beach which is completely unspoiled and stretches for many kilometers. There is even an excellent kitesurfing school and the conditions for kitesurfing could not be more perfect with flat shallow water and no other kiters around. It is hard to imagine a more perfect place to stay."
