In the surroundings, there are small hills and heights planted with sack beds and other tropical trees. It presents waves suitable for surfing and kayaking. Also, it spawns sea turtles, sports fishing and crafts, and sailing boat ride.

Casa Bahia Tours

The prices will depend on the number of people and the travel destination in tours and shuttle. For the tours, the minimum is three people.

  • Apoyo Lagoon (Starts at 100 USD with private transport and bilingual information from the driver)

The Apoyo Lagoon is one of the oldest in Nicaragua. Hundreds of thousands of years ago, it was formed after the eruption of a volcano whose open cone was gradually filled with water. Today, the lake is surrounded by green hills covered with trees. The water is as blue as the sky and the temperature is always ideal for swimming.

The scenic beauty of the site, nature of abundant flora and fauna, the calm and clear waters of the lagoon, and the largely wooded ring slopes make an amazing destination for domestic and foreign visitors with an interesting range of tourist activities. This beautiful destination is already frequented by thousands of people each year, despite the current low existing infrastructure. Supporting the eco-tourism potential, however, it is definitely huge and could go beyond any expectation.

  • Cerro Negro (Starting at 150 USD)

Cerro Negro Volcano is a young and unique volcano; it is basically a black hill without vegetation with quite steep slopes. It is also an excellent tourist stage for the opportunities it offers: an amazing natural environment uploading and descending a volcanic cone and its crater and a structural canopy for visitors.

Downwards, it is much easier to climb, as one of the steepest slopes, there is only volcanic sand and you can run from up to down and in just ten minutes. The feeling of running is tremendous, but is not necessary, because you can also walk slower quietly and take the opportunity to appreciate the panoramic beauty. An alternative is to descend, for people who have experience with snowboards or sandboards, down the mountain. As you can see, the volcano offers a unique experience that can be enjoyed by anyone in good shape.

  • Granada (Starts at 135 USD with private transport and bilingual information from the driver)

The city of Granada is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Nicaragua and one of the most visited by foreign tourists today. The colonial architecture of its old center, museums, galleries, hotels, restaurants, bars, and cosmopolitan atmosphere make it a destination in itself but it is also a starting point to visit the other attractions of the region of trees.

Nature and history are the main areas that bring together the many attractions of the small but interesting department of Granada, where there is an extinct volcano, extensive shores of Lake Nicaragua, archipelagoes, and the oldest city in the country; it retains its large colonial historic center.

  • Masaya Volcano (Starts at 120 USD with private transport and bilingual information from the driver)

Masaya Volcano National Park covers an area of 54 square kilometers and includes two volcanoes and five craters. The volcanoes have erupted several times and once terrorized indigenous and Spanish conquistadors. The Spaniards baptized the active volcano as "The Mouth of Hell". In the 16th century, they put a cross, "La Cruz de Bobadilla" (by Father Francisco Bobadilla), at the mouth of the crater to exorcise the demon.

Visitors can observe the crater of the volcano from the orillar. There is always smoke rising from it. From this crater you can reach others. Be sure to walk a little on tiptoe to see the outgoing smoke and magnificent views. There are many other ways to go to the other craters or Tzinaconostoc cave where there are hundreds of nests of bats. The roads vary in distance between 1.4 and 5.9 kilometers and visitors are accompanied by guides.

On the way to the climb, you can find a well conditioned and very interesting museum, which provides information on the Masaya Volcano, as well as other volcanoes in other parts of the country and its geological processes. Visitors can also learn about the flora and fauna of the park.

  • Ometepe Island (Starts at 120 USD with private transport and bilingual information from the driver)

n Lake Nicaragua, called by the Spanish conquerors as "freshwater sea" because of its immensity, stands the island of Ometepe whose name in Nahuatl means "two hills". The island of 276 square kilometers is home to two majestic volcanoes connected by a short isthmus and is now one of the favorites by domestic and foreign tourists for its hospitable environment and liabilities, its beautiful landscapes, its two volcanoes, archeological wealth, natural destinations, its quiet beaches, and numerous nature reserves and forests that enjoy significant biodiversity.

The island is inhabited by friendly people who love their territory, dedicated mainly to fishing and agricultural production of high quality by the fertile soil. Currently, Ometepinos have begun to devote the attention of many tourists and local services have been installed on the island, with the willingness to welcome visitors from around the world who want to visit this paradise.

  • Shuttle Services

Casa Bahia offers shuttle services to Peñas Blancas Border (50 USD), Augusto C. Sandino (Managua) International Airport (MGA) (120 USD), San Juan del Sur (20 USD), Hermosa Beach (40 USD), Madera Beach (10 USD), and Yankee Beach (60 USD).

  • Turtle Sighting (Starts at 90 USD with private transport and bilingual information from the driver)

Several beaches on both the Pacific and the Nicaraguan Caribbean are part of the few places in the world where sea turtles arrive, sometimes massively, to lay their eggs. This interesting event of great attraction for international tourists occurs several times a year. However, there are some factors that currently threaten this beautiful natural event.

In the Pacific, the largest arrivals are reported in Playa La Flor and Chacocente, located in Rivas, the first, and in Carazo, the second. Both have been declared by this phenomenon, as Wildlife Refuges. These beaches are under surveillance and still preserve the ecosystem undisturbed, virgin nature, and are considered by many as paradisiacal, despite being constantly visited by tourists and scientists.
