Nothing is more important than constant wind. From November through to July, the ancient trade winds blow 15-20 knots 80% of the time. The sea is crystal clear and warm all year round. No wetsuits needed. Skies are always blue and rain is minimal. All locations are uncrowded and the variety of kite spots is huge. Caribbean Kite Cruise visits another island each day where you can choose between waves, lagoons, mirror flat freestyle, or downwinders.

Kite lessons for beginner

For those wishing to learn the sport or develop new skills during the kite cruise, Caribbean Kite Cruise have a fully equipped kitesurf school on board. With the latest North Kite gear and a personal instructor, you can quickly improve your level during your stay. Lessons take place in uncrowded areas with a safety boat under close supervision. If you prefer to leave your gear at home, Caribbean Kite Cruise offers gear and other equipment rental for an additional cost.

Day 1: Introduction

Introduction to the boat and crew before setting off for a sunset sail to the island of Saint Vincent. Sailing time is six hours and you will anchor for the night in a calm beach close to where the film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ was made.

Day 2: Mayreau Gardens

In the morning, you will set off early from Saint Vincent and have breakfast while motoring down the stunning tropical coastline. The sail takes five hours to the first kite spot and you may even catch a fish on the way! The destination is 'Mayreau Gardens', a good place to test the Caribbean conditions. The evening is spent at anchor in the lagoon.

Day 3: Union Island

After breakfast, it is time for another early morning kite session in the Gardens before setting sail for an hour to Union Island. Union is the main village of the Grenadines and has a vibrant local ‘Rasta’ culture.

Here you will find a colorful market and a selection of local bars, shops, and restaurants. The afternoon kite session is in the flat lagoon followed by sunset drinks on ‘Happy Island Bar’, Kitebeach or in the local village.

Day 4: Union Lagoon

You will spend the day kiting in Union Lagoon. The kite spot has excellent freestyle conditions in the turquoise flat water lagoon. There are also fun waves in Palm Island, 15 minutes ride upwind.

Between kite sessions, you may watch the action from the boat’s trampoline or relax on a sun lounger on kite beach. Evening entertainment is in a local village or on ‘Happy Island’ (rasta bar in the middle of the lagoon).

Day 5: Fregate Rock

Start the day with a morning kite session in Union Lagoon followed by lunch on board or in a typical local restaurant. In the afternoon, there is an optional down winder beside the catamaran to Fregate Rock, your next destination. Fregate is an exceptionally flat freestyle spot with offshore wind. A rescue boat is available. Evening entertainment is at Chatham Bay beach bar.

Day 6: Fregate Rock

Fregate is a very popular spot for the guests so you will generally spend another day kiting here. In the evening you will set sail for an hour to the private island resort called PSV. Here there is a stylish cocktail bar for the hotel residents which sailors can also visit.

Day 7: Tobago Cays

In the morning guests can hike up the hill in PSV for a stunning view of the lagoon. After this, you will stop for snorkeling at nearby Morpion Island, a stunning sandbar surrounded by reef, before sailing to the famous ‘Tobago Cays’. Here you can kite all day with turtles and rays in the protected national park. The colors are spectacular. In the evening there is an optional lobster BBQ made by the fishermen on the uninhabited islands.

Day 8: Mayreau

The next destination offers the most spectacular beach of the trip. Salt Whistle Bay in Mayreau is only a 15-minute sail from the Tobago Cays and guests are welcome to make the trip by kite or by boat. In Mayreau, you will discover a palm-lined, white sand beach with a great kite spot in the windward lagoon offering flat water and waves.

After kiting, you may relax on the boat, go paddle boarding and snorkeling, or hike to the spectacular viewpoint in the village. Evening entertainment is in the village or at the Rasta bar on the beach.

Day 9: Mayreau or Union Island

Another day kiting in Mayreau with an optional downwinder in the afternoon back to Union Island. Evening kite session in Union followed by entertainment in the town.

Day 10: Mayreau

Come in the morning, and you will sail back up to Mayreau for the last day’s kiting. In the evening, you will sail for five hours back up to Saint Vincent where you will spend the night at anchor.
