You will feel at home even if in the company of your new family, the surf family, created as a meeting point for waves lovers. Located 100 meters from the beach, here surfers from all over the world find a special place, with full optional to make your holiday a different experience. Change of sheets and towels once a week, the lodge has a fully equipped kitchen, TV, barbecue area, and sunny terrace.


Surf lessons

Calima Surf carry out different courses (initiation, refinement, and advanced), depending on the level of each student, they will intensify the security measures in the water. How to understand currents, weather maps and preferential rules between the surfers, the different types of board and which one is most suited to you, warm up and stretching exercises before entering the water, how to paddle correctly on the board, how to rest appropriately on the board whilst you wait for the next set of waves, how to read the direction the wave is taking, turning left and right, perfect positioning, getting up on the board, slowing down and accelerating. If you already have the experience, you will refine your style with new and advanced techniques designed for each maneuver (take-off, bottom turn, re-entry, cutback, floater, snap, aerials, pipes) you will develop and advance further with some good corrections based on the photo and video analysis.

Kite surf lessons

The kite lessons are given in Famara beach, a playa on the northwest of Lanzarote, usually during low tide hours for better safety on a six kilometers long sandy beach. In this course, you will learn about security and prevention, theory and practice of flight techniques and control, security and prevention in the water, how to ride upwind, kite lifting - how to raise the kite from the water, transfers - experiencing fully the power of the kite in the water and how it influences your movements, and water start - this is when you learn how to control the kite movements, position, board speed, and kite control so you feel safe in the water.









Lanzarote as a natural place offers a unique characteristics. A part of the great extensions of different lava typologies that you can find in the Timanfaya and Malpaìs de la Corona Natural Parks are fields of wind sands (el jable de Famara) marine, and coast ambients like no other. El Rìo, between La Graciosa and Lanzarote and the southwest beaches. Where a multitude of species and subspecies of flora and fauna co-exist and well adapted to these conditions and therefore really endemic. 17% of plants, 60% of nesting birds, 40% of insect, and 100% of reptiles are endemic of the island.

Lanzarote and the other Canary islands constitute a crucial cross between Europe, Africa, and America. They are located 1000 kilometers away from peninsular Spain and 100 kilometers away from African coasts. North of Lanzarote are situated a hundred small island called archipelago Chinijo (small).

Calima Surf

Calima Surf is based in Famara on Lanzarote north-west shore, the most consistent surf area on Canary Islands. If you come to Famara beach, you come to a surfing paradise and tranquility. Located in the center of the Natural Reserve of Archipelago Chinijo, this is a unique place with a special charm that you cannot miss.

The beach has a length of approximately six miles of sand with different types of surf spots perfect for all surf levels and guarantee waves thanks to constants swells north and west, sheltered by a cliff of 600 meters high and extraordinary views. Famara Beach has been recognized numerous times as one of the best beaches in Spain and thanks to its protected status remains virtually untouched.


During picnics, hot sandwiches, fruit juice, and water will be served. The surf house also provides a fully equipped kitchen and barbecue area.

Lanzarote, as well as any other island of Canary, has a perfect weather to practice any sport every month of the year. The weather is one of the reasons why many of the professional national and international sportsmen come to the island to prepare themselves. The most significant event is without any doubt the Lanzarote Ironman, organized by La Santa Club.

Whatever is your favorite sport, Lanzarote became a well equipped center for spare time. It offers a splendid scenario to practice sport or enjoy spare time in contact with nature, a real paradise for those who love the sea and aquatic sports. The sea related sports, like scuba diving, where you can realize amazing immersion with breathtaking seabeds. There are more than ten shipwrecks where you will be able to admire with the variety of different species living in the Canaries. Scuba fishing with fishing-rod or deep-sea fishing, and windsurfing.

Open air sports, nautical, water, and earth sports can be practiced the whole year: sailing, scuba diving or immersions, windsurf, kite, surf, bodyboard, wakeboard, water sky, canoeing, jet sky, cycling, climbing, trekking, delta-gliding, para-gliding, and others.

Swimming crossing El Rio

Swimming crossing of El Rìo is the ideal competition. It is celebrated every year in its traditional form, on the second half of September. You shouldn't forget that the aim of this competition is involving in sport of the inhabitants of Lanzarote. For this reason, inscriptions are always open from beginner swimmers up to pro. The important here is participating and having fun. The event is managed by El Cabildo, being the Servivcio Insular de Deporte responsible of its organization.
