It's surf, it's yoga, and it's wine! Surf on golden beaches along the Algarve coastline, stretch aching muscles afterwards with sunset yoga sessions and top off the days with healthy home-cooked meals. Add to this: a wine tasting trip to local winery, along with plenty of time to chill out by hostels pool and youve got yourself a holiday! Bura Surf House welcomes all levels for surfing, yoga and wine drinkers.
Bura Surf House hostel is located a 10-minute walk away from the Lagos old town - close enough to the great beaches and nightlife Lagos has to offer, with the added bonus of getting away from the crowded streets and the noise to lie in a hammock by the pool - something you won't find in any other hostel in Lagos.
Bura Surf House hostel has a mix of twin rooms for 2 and shared dorms for 4, 6 or 8 people. They also have one en suite apartment sleeping 2, 3 or 4 people. All rooms are super clean, spacious, and comfortable and linen and towels are included.
Bura Surf House hostel has great shared common areas and a kitchen where you can prepare your own food and hang out with other guests; alternatively you can get out into the garden and get your tan on, or challenge someone to a game of pool or ping pong.
Some of the highlights of the Bura Surf House take place in the rooftop bar where the management holds sunset sessions with live acoustic musicians, starlight cinema where you can kick back and watch a film under the stars and 'Bura Beats' with DJ and awesome cocktails to start your weekend. You'll also love the hostel homemade dinners, from BBQs to Portuguese style Piri Piri chicken - with plenty of wine.
The hostel's bar is a chilled out environment to enjoy a few lazy after-surf beers with new friends and shuts each evening at 22:30 when the party shifts into town so the hostel can respect the neighbors and those who are getting up early.
You'll head out to the beach for a three day surf course, with morning and afternoon surf lessons - each lasting around 2 hours. All levels - including complete beginners are welcomed. The surf vans pick you up at around 08:30 each morning to spend the day at a beach with the best swell for the day, and you'll be dropped back to Bura around at 17:00. Since the hostel is located with easy access to both the south and west coasts of Portugal, you'll get to explore and practice your surfing on a variety of beaches. If you've surfed before, you can head out back, take in the insane cliff formations that line the coasts and wait for the sets to roll in.
Yoga sessions are held in the morning or evening on hostel rooftop - prepare for epic sunsets! Bura Surf House yoga instructor is simply lovely in helping you ease out those aching post-surf muscles - or limbering up in the morning for a day in the ocean. Any level of yoga experience is welcome.
You'll head on out into the Portuguese countryside to an organic vineyard for an afternoon of wine tasting. You'll be shown how the wine is produced, and then get to settle in for an afternoon sampling different varieties accompanied by snacks of local cheese and bread.
Having some of Europe's best surf on its doorstep, Lagos has a chilled out surf vibe; you can spend your days at the awesome beaches that surround the town and your nights in the quaint old town where bars spill out onto the cobbled streets. With great food to suit every budget and super cheap happy hours (1.80 EUR a pint), you'll have a great night every night, and especially for sexy Bura guests, Bura Surf House has hooked up some great deals at local bars and restaurants just to make your time in Lagos even cheaper.
Some things not to miss are the incredible grottos in the Ponta da Piedade area of Lagos where you can explore the incredible rock formations, caves and secluded beaches easily reached by fishing boat, kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Don't forget to take a load of sun cream and your camera!
Mingle with the locals and hit the markets on Saturday morning, you'll find amazing fresh fish and produce for equally amazing prices - and if you want, Matt will even share his fish gutting skills with you if you pick something up for lunch.
Other areas you'll not want to miss are the great beach bars along the 5 kilometers main beach of Meia Praia, where you'll find weekly beach parties and live music, and the marina where you'll find even more bars and restaurants. So whether you're up early for hitting the surf after having a few lazy beers on the roof or hitting the town to party through til the early hours, there really is something for everyone in Lagos.
