Program

Surfing

With a beach and surf front location, local knowledge, and a private 4wd and boat transportation they will guide you daily (all day long!) into the best and emptiest waves available in the area. With constant off-shore conditions, exhaustion is guaranteed at the end of the day! They also employ full-time certified instructors and beginners are more than welcome! For the private panga tour, you will be transferred from Buena Onda Beach Resort to El Astillero since panga leaves from the fishing village of El Astillero. From there, you can run two different packages. Tour Norte, as the name suggests, heads north while Sur goes south. Both of the tours access a variety of different waves. Wind, tide, and swell patterns as well as the kind of waves you are looking for help deciding where to go.

Boat

Buena Onda Beach Resort's private 25-foot panga, the Queen Mary, is equipped with a custom roof awning giving you a better experience while going around and exploring nature. Luis or Carrillo, the boat captain who has spent his life at sea, is waiting for you.

Included excursions

  • Fishing village visit
  • Hot spring or lookout spot visit
  • Seasonal festivity experiences like a cock fight, rodeo, and many more

Location

This surf camp will take place in Tola, Nicaragua. Tola is blessed with unbelievable natural beauty. Some of the areas are laid back and have friendly people on earth, perfect beaches, and of course, great and varied waves for surfing. Many waves in the area are not accessible by car. Some of them are of world-class quality and consistency. The constant south swells have warm and pristine water as well as beautiful untouched surroundings.

These conditions make this region a true surfers’ paradise with countless waves to explore that can make people surfing all day long and on any tide. There are four well-known surfing spots that can be visited during the surf camp. They are Playa Santana, Playa Rosada, Playa Popoyo, and Outer Reef. The mentioned breaks are just the ones within walking distance from Buena Onda Resort. The area is very wave-rich and once people hop in a car or in a boat.

Arrival by airplane

Due to the Pandemic, the best way to travel to Nicaragua is to fly into Costa Rica (not Managua, Nicaragua). There are flights either to San Jose or to Liberia. Buena Onda Beach Resort can help with transport from both places with their taxi partners in Costa Rica. The rate varies a bit if it is from Liberia or San Jose to the Nicaraguan border and depends on how many people there are. They, therefore, would only cover pick-up from the Nicaraguan border to the resort. But they are, of course, more than happy to help organize pick up.

Arrival by bus

You can take a bus in Rivas that leaves for Las Salinas or El Astillero. Then, you can get off in Limon number 2. From there, you can give Buena Onda Beach Resort a call once you are in Limon number 2 and Buena Onda Beach Resort's crew will come to pick you up.

Arrival by taxi

A taxi from Rivas to Buena Onda Beach Resort costs around 25 USD. Do not let the taxi drivers rip you off. If one does not want to do the trip for that price, ask another one.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 100% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
