During this surf camp, you will be staying at Mega Lestari Hotel. Mega Lestari Hotel owns 8 decent rooms with 4 doubles and 4 singles, all with fans but no air conditioner, on first floor. There is now mosquito bed netting in the rooms, you may want to take repellent but remember the mosquito factor is pretty low. A large ventilated living room with sofas makes life fairly easy.

The river tidal range varies from from 20 to 120 (120 would be 100% of the maximum tide). Depending on tidal ranges and seasons, optimum riding time vary between 1 and 4 hours. Then, depending on the global number of people, the number of people riding at the same time, riding time will probably vary between 30 minutes and 2 hours. No doubt, whatever your skill is, you will catch the longest rides of your life.

Your surfing spot will be Kampar River in Teluk Meranti. Teluk Meranti is a small friendly village of 2500 people with small shops, Saturday night market, and 4 schools. What you can find on Kampar River in Sumatra is fairly similar to the Pororoca on Araguari River. Despite medium tidal range (4 meter max), the shallow estuary of Kampar, probably overpowered by an extremely efficient funnelling effect and the acceleration of Malacca Straight, produces up to 10 feet face breaking waves.

If the 'bono' can reach barreling momentum for 10-15 minutes, the main course is probably 2-5 feet soft peeling waves, allowing dozens of round-house cutbacks, probably best suited for longboarders, paddlesurfers, intermediates surfers and even beginners. The bore breaks up to 4 hours, about 50-kilometer rides, and each surfer end up surfing 1 hour or so on 4-5 sections.

The main restaurant is opposite the hotel. Food is varied with white rice, river fishes, chicken and some tasty (if not spicy) local recipes, some sweet stuff. No beer available in town, please don't bring alcohol. You'll get 2 bottles of mineral water per day and per person.
