Private room

The private room has double and single bunk bed. It can sleep up to 3 people. It is the closest room to the back deck and has a window facing the sea. It also has a shared bath.

Bocas Del Toro is a wonderful place to learn how to surf - Bocas Surf School and Hostel has soft rolling reef breaks and idyllic beach breaks on a secluded white sand beach. Being an island chain, it also provides unbelievable scenery. Some spots are located smack in the middle of various islands. Surf breaks for beginners vary; there are deep reef breaks that crumble as it breaks providing easy lefts and rights, other waves are almost all sand with a few large rocks off to the side with an easy take off, and others have sandy bottoms and peeling lefts and rights with views of the jungle and long golden sand beach.

The Bocas islands are close to each other. Isla Colon, Isla Bastimentos, Isla Carenero and others have a wide variety of surf breaks. Everything from fun reef point breaks with fun tubing sections to gnarly shore breaks with spitting barrels - Bocas Del Toro has it all.

Every morning, before surf session, you can enjoy a cup of coffee. Full day classes run from 9:00 to 16:00. Lunches are usually between 12:00 and 14:30.

Bocas Surf School would teach you the basics on surfing such as reading the waves, surf theory, and some surf etiquette. Then you jump on their boat from the surf camp deck and go to the surf spot. It is located about 5-minute boat ride from Bocas Surf School and Hostel place. Here they tie their boat to the buoy and go surfing. If your knowledge is fresh, Bocas Surf School and Hostels guides will take you to the best surf breaks around after considering the surf conditions.

During your entire surf class, the boat will stay with you. Feel free to bring drinks, snacks, towels, camera gear and know that the school will always be with you. If you are tired, just go hang out on the boat until the rest of the camp is ready to return.

This retreat will take place in Bocas Surf Camp and Hostel, Avenida H Norte, Bocas Del Toro, Panama.

"The teachers were very experienced, fun, always have snacks and I don't think my 3 days could have gone faster! I'm only ten years old and have only been scuba diving once (with them) but I feel like a pro at it. I understand the dangers diving, but I can't wait to get back in the water and dive some more. I'm proud to say I was the first, and the youngest certified student at the Bocas surf school. The place itself is very clean, colorful, and friendly with cute puppies to greet you. And if you get hungry there will be a wrap cafe waiting for you with amazingly tasty wraps. When you've been in the water and gotten to know how amazing it is to breathe under water, they take you out to a ship wreck and an amazing coral reef. Before I got in the water I was quite nervous, but underwater they make you so comfortable you never want to get out. It was definitely the best part of my summer and I think anyone will love it. So I recommend the Bocas Surf School."

"Stayed twice during a three month stay in Bocas. A really great, quiet, small hostel a short distance from the center of town. Would definitely stay again when next back in Bocas."

"Our experience at Bocas Surf and Hostel was great. We stayed for 3 weeks in a private room, which was at the back of the hostel. As in the title, the location is right over the water which does mean that in the afternoons, there is quite often sea breezes which work through the hostel and makes hanging out on the back deck very relaxing and a little special (180 degree views - and makes for great photos to send back home). It is a short 5 to 10-minute walk into town, less to a few restaurants. It is very quiet with little traffic going past. The room had air-conditioning, and lockers, but you will need your own padlock. As for the hostel facilities, full working kitchen - stove top, oven, microwave and fridge. All cooking amenities, but bowls were in short supply. When lightly occupied, the kitchen is great and the space within the hostel is plenty (which is how it was for a majority of our stay); however, when the hostel is full, the kitchen can be a bit tight, and this is when the shortage of bowls is most obvious. Bathrooms were cleaned daily, there were two inside the house, so never a problem with having to wait. Overall the cleanliness was good, cleaner every day, but the hostel is now in need of some love, although some would like this rustic/basic feel. At the front of the property is the 'Wrap Bus' which at times is very convenient."

"I thought this was the best of all worlds: clean bedding, hot shower, lockable storage (a small locker) and good recommendations from the owners. The other guests are a virtual tour from around the world, everyone respects others' food and water items in the common kitchen, and shares the amazing deck out back. The blue bus out front is converted to house a smoothie, breakfast and lunch service bar. The women who staff it are distinctly unfriendly, but the food is good and relatively cheap considering the convenience to the hostel. It is possible to catch a water taxi to and from here directly. You might need to pledge an extra dollar. I took a taxi from the Bocas Dive Center to the Surf Hostel when I brought back all of my gear and that cost 50 cents. It is walkable from the airport (even with a large rolling bag). Note that when traveling from Panama City to Bocas, the weight limit is 30 pounds. Overages are charged at a couple of dollars per kilo, and you may find that heavy luggage is loaded on the flight after yours, so pack your patience if you can't pack lightly."

"Took two lessons with Manuel and he was super patient and always makes sure you will catch the best wave for you. He knows where to take you no matter the conditions out there and you will surely have a blast! He will try every trick he knows to get you up and going. He also has a lot of knowledge to share about the spots, easily the best surf instructor in town! I will definitely be back for more!"

"I was just here last week and had an amazing time at the hostel. This was my first hostel experience. The location is perfectly set on the water and I heard waves crashing in every room of the house! Josh was very accommodating since I had an early flight into town (wish wouldn't be always of course, but much appreciated!) Hope to be back!"

"We had such a great stay and surf experience with Bocas Surf School and Hostel! The hostel was incredibly clean with a fully functioning kitchen. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We spent every morning with our coffee and evening with a drink on the back porch listening to the ocean. All night the ocean sounds lulled us to sleep, it truly was ideal! It was also quiet and peaceful, because it was not in the loud party-scene section of town. The surf lessons on land were easy to understand and while on the water having an instructor right at our sides was very helpful! After one day of surfing we felt comfortable catching waves on our own, with the instructor's guidance. I could not have asked for a better experience in Bocas! We stayed in other hostels and truly missed Bocas Surf School!"

"Just had the best surf day of my life as an advanced beginner with Manny, who for 50 EUR gave me a private lesson with great safety instructions and good stance critiques, then took me on his boat to some beautiful 3 foot waves that I rode for 3 hours (he even towed me back a few times to save my arms)! Already booked my next lesson with him. Gracias Manny!"
