Escape to a hidden sanctuary, unwind, and rest in Bluebottle's beautiful rooms! Revitalize and breathe in the sunshine, drink in the views, and enjoy the warm hospitality. Bluebottle Guesthouse offers seven guest rooms and is situated on the slopes of the Muizenberg mountains, overlooking the spectacular False Bay coastline. They opened their doors in 2002 and are proud to say that it just keeps getting better!
At Bluebottle Guesthouse, they endeavor to offer guests the best service they can give and share some of their famous South African hospitality with you. They are proud to have many repeat guests who have since become great friends.
The views are awesome from every room, but you need to do the two-minute Bluebottle workout to earn your reward!! Bluebottle Guesthouse is not your average suburban bed and breakfast, it is on the mountainside, nestled amongst indigenous fauna and flora, overlooking a beautiful blue sea. You can only access the guesthouse by a long flight of stairs; 131 steps to be exact!
They are in groups of around five to 10 stairs separated by landings and are easily managed by anyone of average fitness, the oldest guest was 92 years old! It is unusual access but creates a peaceful calm atmosphere away from the noise of traffic and busy, buzzing suburban life. Taryn is a designer and has used her talent to design a mosaic for the stairs that encompasses all the natural beauty of Muizenberg.
The theme starts at the ocean floor, rising up through the waves, then shoreline, onto the estuary and vlei, and then the yet to be installed designs of the mountain beauty and, finally, the day and nighttime skies. Andrew is a butterfly expert and over the last 15 years, Bluebottle has landscaped the stairs with water-wise local plants to attract butterflies and birds. The stairs are also frequented by several animals including porcupines, chameleons, tortoises, frogs, toads, and the occasional baboon.

They also offer on-street parking that has monitored cameras and an overnight security guard on foot patrol.
