It’s a deep water break that needs a good north swell to work. It’s located on the west of Egg Island, so clean on typical offshore trade winds.
The reef breaks are located on the northwest point of the island. The rights and lefts waves needs a north swell.
There is a number of different breaks located in this small area. Each works best on different tides and swell directions. It’s a great beginner beach break. There is also a superfast, hollow and sketchy right wave (breaks right over sharp honeycomb reef) which is not for the fainthearted!
It is located at the southern end of the island in Whale Point cut, this break works best on an east swell and an outgoing tide. It has mostly lefts waves.
Located at the northern tip of Whale Point, this right point break needs size and no wind to get good. It is best on an outgoing tide.
It is best over 8 feet. It’s steep, long, hollow and workable on the left off a reef point. Paddling in is radical at low tide since there is no beach, only sharp reef rock.
The most well-known and most consistent break on the island which can get over 10 feet. Breaks are well on most swell directions. The waves are mostly long and left waves, some steep rights. The break is best in the winter months as cold fronts pass through.
There are two breaks at either end of this small bay. The northern one works best on north swell when it can be one of the best breaks on the island. It has a long, workable left wave. At the southern end of the cove there are some good rights, working best on low to mid tide, and an east to southeast swell.
This area of the island always picks up any swell, but mostly just heavy beach break. A few points can work well on northeast to east swell. Hidden Beach is a good spot, but needs a big swell to break far enough out to surf.
One of the few places on the island that is offshore on east to southeast wind. When north swell hits, it is truly a surfers’ dream.
Multiple offshore breaks on the outer reef. It needs a boat or kayak to get to. It has powerful waves breaking over sharp coral, and perfect left and right tubes.
It needs a true east swell to work. It breaks big and hard on the outer reef.
This break is good on a northeast to east swell. It can still be offshore on northwest to north wind.
This retreat will take place in Eleuthera Island, Bahamas. The island of Eleuthera offers some of the most consistent and powerful surf in Bahamas. Eleuthera has all point breaks, reef breaks and beach breaks. The island is surrounded by deep Atlantic Ocean on its north and east sides, where the best breaks are located.
The north coast breaks work on anything from north through northeast while the east coast breaks on anything from north to south east, predominantly lefts but there are some rights. A 3000-foot drop in the ocean floor, one mile offshore, acts as a swell magnet that can channel in swells from as far away as Africa and the Azores.
The island of Eleuthera is considered to be one of the prettiest islands in Bahamas, with its rolling green hills, sheltered coves, breathtaking bluffs and cliffs, inland lagoons and caves, and magnificent pink sand beaches that stretch for miles. In certain spots on the island, you can see the deep blue Atlantic Ocean and the calmer, aquamarine Bight of Eleuthera at the same time.
Meals, snacks, and drinks will be provided for you during this vacation. Please let Bahamas Out Island Adventures know in advance if you are a vegetarian or a vegan so that appropriate meal choices can be adjusted.
