The retreat will take place in Punta del Este, Uruguay. Punta del Este is about 120 kilometers from the capital city, Montevideo. It is not as big as to think of it as a city in itself, yet you will not find yourself in a village lifestyle. The place is quiet during the Uruguayan winter, yet it becomes alive in the months of the summer. Punta del Este in December, January, and February offers a varied and vibrant ambiance where one can find everything ranging from solo getaway beaches to great nightclubs and fancy dining.
These months of warm weather welcomes one to spend the incredible sunny days exploring the coast, the islands, the surf beaches, and kitesurfing lagoons. And sometimes, rainy days are great chance to explore the other side of Punta del Este including music, theater, shows, cafes, bistros, shopping, and more.
Punta del Este has two downtowns or centers. They are La Barra and La Punta. La Punta offers the beautiful harbor and a calm (no waves here) beach, where people love to enjoy the sunsets. La Punta is great for an evening run, walk, or stroll along the coast, shopping, and dining out. It is very kid-friendly and a place where you find theater, shows, and cinemas, and of course, lots of shopping.
La Barra is the home of surf, high-volume music, and dance at the beach, as well as lonely beautiful beaches, kilometers of beach just for you. La Barra is the "hippie-chic" style of the place, offering original cuisine and high-quality gastronomy, as well as accessories, decor, and a great ambiance for walks. Your retreat home is in La Barra, walking distance to the surf beaches where you will have your surf lessons.
During this holiday, you will be served daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Afternoon teas, coffee, and snacks are available all day. All is included in the price. All meals are made with natural products and Asteria Y O G A works with Finca La Rosada. Their cook is specialist in vegetarian recipes and healthy delicious nutritious meals.
Punta del Este is a peninsula. Thus, it is surrounded by a coastline with kilometers of sandy beaches. On the west side of the peninsula, you have the calm beach: no waves. On the east side, waves kick in. These beaches run all along the Uruguayan coast, non stop sandy paradises.
Boat trips to Gorriti island are a great day out. Many boats go out to spend the day either exploring the island of relaxing on the boat. Isla de Lobos is the island of sea lions. If you are lucky and courageous, you may get the chance to swim with a bunch of sea lions, animals that invaded the island and therefore can only be appreciated from the boat.
Portezuelo can be approached by land or ocean. Here, you find more and more long beaches, cliffy areas, high rocks to jump from to the sea, and the wonderful Casa Pueblo. Casa Pueblo is an architectural artwork by an Uruguayan artist, Páez Vilaro. It is a white organic construction on the cliff of a peninsula, facing over the ocean, a great place for a good coffee and art appreciation.
Please book your flight to arrive at Carrasco International Airport (MVD). You can also book your flight to arrive at the airport in Punta del Este, but since this is a small airport, few planes arrive it.
Buses from Montevideo to Punta del Este run very frequently in the summer months. The journey is about two hours. There is a bus station in La Punta, which is the terminal bus station of Punta del Este. You can either get a taxi from the bus station to Chandelle or arrange a pick up with Asteria Y O G A.
