During your surf camp, you will stay at Ebb and Flow in Paje. The guesthouse is located just 150 meters from the beach and right by lots of shops, bars, and restaurants. The property has a pool, pool beds, garden, and chill out lounge. There are twelve rooms in total. You can choose different room categories depending on your budget and needs.
All rooms have fans, mosquito nets, and hot water showers, depending on your booked category the room also comes with kitchenette and/or air conditioning. Daily housekeeping is provided. All rooms have either a garden or pool view. You can choose between economy private room with fan, standard private room with air conditioning, apartment with kitchen, or shared mixed dorm.
Program
During this surf camp, Aquaholics Zanzibar will take you out to surfing and show you a great time on the island. Every surf package includes a five days surf course for beginners, as well as a great on the spot service.
Every trip includes transfers, boat trip, all gear, guide / lessons, snacks, and water. All surf trips are scheduled by Aquaholics Zanzibar depending on available groups and conditions. The trips are scheduled over low tide and the time changes every day. Aquaholics Zanzibar takes you out to the nicest breaks and the surf spots that suits your skill level best.
If the waves are gone flat or the wind condition makes it impossible for you to surf, Aquaholics Zanzibar makes a plan for you and organize different activities with the same value. You will have plenty of free time on the island and with the best local knowledge, Aquaholics Zanzibar will give a good advice on other tours to do and the best places around to dine, to have a drink, and to meet new people. Aquaholics Zanzibar will make the most of your holiday.
Best season for surfing in Zanzibar is June to October and December to March. The swells are more consistent and better spots are working. From December to March, they get mainly wind swells. Ground swells and good surf mainly starts to come through in a short period between middle of January and middle of March. For beginners, the spots are great throughout the whole season and learning conditions are perfect in Zanzibar.

Ruben
Coming from South Africa and having grown up by the sea, Ruben has a lot of confidence when it comes to his teaching and reading waves and ocean. He will have you up and riding in no time and will always be happy to help out improving your technique.
Juma
Juma used to be a construction worker but found his love for the ocean and waves when he started his job at Aquaholics back in 2022. He has learned to surf under Ryans coaching and has learned some great teaching skills during his seasons with us. He is such a vibe in the water and one of the very few Swahili Surfers in Zanzibar. We are so proud of his achievements.
Location
This retreat will take place in Zanzibar. Zanzibar is a tropical island off the Tanzanian Coast with beautiful beaches and a rich culture. Paje is one of the most vibrant places on the island, especially if you are sharing the stoke for water sports. It is well known for kite surfing and Aquaholics has started running surf trips to the reef where you can find some surprisingly fun waves.
The spots around the southeast coast are uncrowded and can be fun for all level surfers. The reef in Zanzibar is not as gnarly as some other tropical islands surfing spots. It is generally flat and rocky. Many sea urchins can be found in some surf spots (spikey crustaceans). However, Aquaholics Zanzibar's beginner friendly spot is almost urchin free.
Dolphins are seen regularly along the coastline and often join you for a surf session. Zanzibar is quite chancy for waves, so the knowledge of where to go is essential. The swell, wind direction, tides, and moon faze are vital in getting any form of decent wave to surf. Some different sections on the reef break with different conditions are really worth a boat trip.
The spots mostly surfed with beginners all year around are on the Dongwe Reefs. For intermediate surfers, they find some fun waves in Dongwe in their summer season. The reef off Jambiani offers the better conditions for intermediate and advanced surfers in the winter season when ground swells come through quite regularly.
