Antony Boy Camping has put together a beginner kitesurfing coupled with camping experience that will cement your interest in the sport. Learn all the necessary skills to become an independent kiteboarder with a certified IKO instructor in one of the best wind spots in the Mediterranean.
You will be staying in trailers on the camping grounds of Antony Boy Camping. Antony-Boy, is a family-run campground that stretches over more than 60.000 square meters of beautiful Pelješac coastline. Whether you are looking for a quiet and intimate spot to relax with friends and family, or if your dream vacation involves chatting and laughing with tons of adrenaline-junkie wind-seekers, Antony Boy Camping is the campground for you! Their 8-level campsite offers great variety so we can find you exactly what you’re looking for.
The camp also features a small shop at reception, as well as a convenient high-speed internet-cafe. You can rent windsurfing equipment with a discount, as well as attend a windsurfing school located in the Windsurf Center in the near-by camp Liberan which is located just 100 meters west of Antony-Boy campground. In addition to camp sites, they also offer rentals of Antony-Boy camping caravans, bikes, and small tents.
You will also have facilities to refill your gas canisters. You can find everything you need nearby the camp, with grocery stores just a short 500-meter walk in either direction in the villages of Kuciste and Viganj. You can usually find special items in nearby Orebic, a small city located six kilometers east of the camp.
During this seven-day kitesurfing course, you will be undergoing the beginner kitesurf course and receive an IKO certification on completion. The kitesurfing school has been operational for over six years with a constant supply of high quality instructors who speak Croatian, English, and German.
The school is just 40 meters away from the main camping site. Among the equipment quiver, they have three speedboats, and an array of kites and boards for every wind conditions. The kites range from 9-meter square to 15-meter square so that you can work in all conditions.
The team is made up of multiple instructors who hold an IKO licence with many years of experience. They purchase new gear every year to ensure safe and reliable conditions for the students. After a longer testing phase, they have made the choice that it is best to use Gaastra kites which have proven themselves in any conditions.
They also have a variety of NPX harnesses, neoprene wetsuits and swimming vests in all the necessary sizes. The rent of all the equipment and the speedboat that you will be using during all of the listed kitesurfing courses, is included in the price.
The beginner course has six lessons over estimated five days. You will learn all the necessary skills to become an independent kiteboarder with a certified IKO instructor. You will find that dividing the course into multiple days makes the learning curve better for the students.
The course is done via a speedboat which constantly follows the students during the course. On the speedboat are one or more instructors that give tips and corrections to students. The instructors are also there to jump in and assist the students, and show them how everything is done. With the school, the students are best taken care of since the skilled team is always behind them.
The school days are divided as follows, however Antony Boy Camping are flexible and tend to adapt the lesson according to the student’s level.
You will learn spot assesment, kite setup, basic handling, safety steps, launching and landing the kite, and self landing.
You will be going out with speedboat, learning to control the kite in the water, and learn the principle of body dragging.
Today you will learn moving and turning in the water without the board, riding upwind without the board, and self rescue.
Today you will learn the principle of water start with the board on, gliding on water (and going upwind for fast learners).
Last training day, you will spend improving your riding skills and becoming a kitesurfer!
This surf camp will take place in Viganj, Croatia. Viganj is a small village in the sunny south of Croatia. It is located on the shores of the clear and warm Mediterranean sea. It is known for its many days of sun and great winds conditions which attract surfers from all over Europe and the world.
It is filled with small cafes, bars and restaurants. The cafes are filled with surfers every day which make up most of the population during the summer days. There are two most famous bars where the surfers gather, the Beach Bar and the famous K2. Both are right by the sea and present a place to chill or enjoy acoustic concerts during the day, or go party with live music by night. It is great that they are both filled with people every day!
There are numerous restaurants which all have excellent Mediterranean cuisine made from fresh local vegetables, fruits and fish. There are also many outdoor activities which one can undertake: windsurfing, kitesurfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, mountain biking, and paragliding. The surrounding area also has many small, secluded beaches with clear sea. You can also go on a tour to visit the local small villages in the surrounding.
While staying in the camp, you should also consider visiting Dubrovnik some 100 kilometers away via car, the UNESCO site from the seventh-century. It is one of the first and oldest democracies in the Mediterranean. Other places that you should also consider visiting are the National Park Mljet (2-hour, car and boat ride), Brac (1-hour 30 minutes boat ride) but also Hvar and Split.
On the other side of the sea shore, opposite from your camp, is the island Korčula. The island contains a preserved ancient city. This city, according to the legend, was founded by the Trojan hero Antenor in the 12-century BC. The city is also very known for being the birthplace of Marco Polo. Aside from this great cultural treasures, the island is also famous for its white wine, scuba diving, and night life. The island’s untouched shores present the visitors wit a number of lagoons and beaches.
Located in the sunny Mediterranean, this area can be considered to be the pearl of the Adriatic. The peninsula Pelješac has a beautiful nature, crystal clear sea with many beaches, sunny days, and party nights. It’s cultural heritage is many thousands of years old with an extraordinary fresh local cuisine.
With so much untouched nature, it does not lack cultural heritage many centuries old as well as an authentic gastronomical treasure. This region is famous for it’s wineries, authentic red wine famous all over the world (Plavac Mali). Gastronomical offers range from fish and local olive oil from all over the peninsula, to the special offers of local bread sea shells in the area of the town Ston.
