Malta is a great place to practice the beautiful sport of windsurfing. If you’ve never tried windsurfing before, be prepared to get hooked! When you windsurf, there’s no motor, it’s just you, your board, wind, and water. A wonderful combination that leaves most people wanting to repeat the experience! You will experience learning how to windsurf is easier than ever before!
You will stay for 6 nights in a host family accommodation. A warm welcome, caring environment, and immersion into the English language are just a few things that host family accommodation offers. Alpha School of English in Malta offers windsurfing to participants of all ages and levels of fitness. The progress is usually quick where the newcomers to this sport can be up and going on their very first day. The modern equipment is light and manageable and doesn’t require too much upper body strength. This course is targeted to those who are new to the sport.
You will be under constant supervision and will learn the first steps to become a windsurfer. You will learn basic sailing terms, the parts of the board and its rigging, safety features, basic knots, orientation, balance, stopping, gaining speed, and basic handling. Having completed and passed a basic test, you will be issued with a certificate. The course consists of 4 sessions with the duration of 3.75 hours each.
This surf camp will take place in Mellieha, Malta. Malta’s size and fine weather all year round also make it easy to combine the study of English with a sports course or other leisure and fun activities. St. Paul’s Bay is an ideal base to explore the island with excellent bus links to Valletta, Sliema, and Mdina. The best beaches on the island are also an easy bus ride away.
The sea is shallow and clear making it ideal for children. Golden Bay nestles below rocks and is a wonderful spot to have something to eat and watch the sun set. For those who enjoy a slower pace and quieter nightlife, then Saint Paul’s Bay is ideal. If you want to enjoy the bright lights of Bugibba or Qawra, both are within walking distance. The beaches and the main towns are all easy to reach using the cheap and regular bus services.
The bay itself, which is enclosed, is the perfect setting for all water-sports enthusiasts. Windsurfers and water-skiers mingle with the traditional colourful Maltese fishing-boats. Saint Paul’s Bay is a typical old-world Mediterranean fishing village situated in the north of Malta. Although it now boasts of all modern amenities such as shops, banks, a post-office, several restaurants specialising in local cuisine, pubs, and open-air cafes, it still retains its old-world charm.
This surf camp includes half board meals including daily continental breakfast and cooked dinner. Full board meals are also available at an extra cost. You can also request for special diet requirements (coeliac, halal, low-cholesterol, vegan, and lactose free diet) for 49 EUR.
