When is the best time to surf in Zarautz

Best time to go

The best time to surf in Zarautz is in autumn. Between September and May the surf conditions are perfect for the intermediate and advanced surfers, with good swell and fewer crowds. Especially in winter, the pros take a chance on the wild Basque waves. Take in mind that the water can be extremely cold during these months, especially in January and February.

The summer months are great for beginning surfers, as waves are rather small and less strong. Although the beaches are crowded in July and August, the weather is warm and there’s plenty of additional activities in the surrounding cities.
