Canggu is the most concentrated spot with multiple world-class waves on this island and unique in the world. This reef break surf spot on Bali is well-known for its fast lefts and especially popular in the morning. The surfing culture in this coastal village is absolutely amazing! Canggu is a foodie & Instagram hotspot with trendy restaurants and bars, you’ll find the best latte art and Açaí bowls next to a traditional saté ajam. The best way to refresh and revitalize after a long surf session is to enjoy a post-surf coconut! Often surf camps in Canggu are combined with a yoga retreat.
The best time to surf in Canggu is during the Dry Season (April-October), as swells increase and the water is warmest. Especially from May to September, when there are offshore winds, the conditions are great for all levels of surfers. The intermediate-friendly peaks at Canggu are especially good mid-tide, mostly on the lefties, as the peaks during the high and low tides are tricky with cuts off the beaches. The afternoon and dawn crowds are inevitable. Get some beers accompanied by reggae music on Batu Bolong, and you’ll be recharged for the evening to come!
Canggu is known for its surfer's vibe and low-key nightlife, closing at 12am. Regardless, the parties are great, and with a good crowd of people. Famous places in Canggu are beach bar Old Man’s with weekly parties, happy hours and DJs, club Deus, live music venue Gimme Shelter, and Echo’s beach The Sand Bar.
