Taghazout is famous for escaping the winter blues as Morocco has warm land temperatures year-round. The bohemian beaches have been attracting beginning and advanced surfers since the '70. Surf Camps in Taghazout offer surfing lessons for a good price, with a young atmosphere, and unique culture. Combine your surf camp with yoga sessions or a tour to the local souk, to have a surf camp never to forget! Pro tip: get plenty of cash out as there are no ATMs in Taghazout - the nearest one is in Aourir - and not all machines accept Maestro.
The best time of the year to go surfing in Taghazout is usually from late September to April, when the North Atlantic hits 20 point break spots or more. Because of its 300 sunshine days a year, it stays warm most of the year. Taghazout has been famous for escaping the winter blues, and for its great pointbreaks around Anchor Point. Regardless of the warm land temperatures, you’ll need a wetsuit in the water year-round, as the Atlantic remains cold.
This area is especially well-known for its perfect right-hands and the most exciting waves in the area are the point breaks Anchor Point and Killer Point, as well as Boilers, Dracula’s, Hash Point, and KM11.
The best way to experience local Moroccan food in Taghazout is along the beach. With many restaurants along the shore, there’s plenty of option to try local dishes as tajines (stews), couscous, or freshly caught seafood. Also, don’t forget to have a typical Moroccan Tea after your surf! With limited servings of alcohol in Morocco, coffee and juices are the main drinks in Taghazout. Find occasional music and cinema nights at Cafe Mouja along the main beach or visit the trendy hotspot (and the only licensed) Amouage Bar, which is overlooking the ocean with a perfect sunset. Visit the traditional market in Agadir called the Souk el Had where locals shop to get their fruits, vegetables, and spices.
