Are you ready to experience the sheer power of a kite? Live, eat, and breathe kitesurfing at this kitesurf camp in Lagos at the sunny Algarve. Come to Lagos, Portugal, experience controlling the power of a kite, meet with like-minded people, and be a part of a great adventure!
You will stay at Kite House Lagos which features a pool, barbeque area, a big garden with trampolines, and outside multi-sport courts. In the Barraka Bar, you can have a cold beer or cocktail while having Wi-Fi, watching TV, playing table pool, or backgammon. The new kite house is not a wild party house, but you are still only minutes away from the night action in the center of Lagos with all the pubs, clubs, restaurants, and street life.
The camp house has double rooms and dorm rooms consisting of six to seven beds. Right in front of the pool, the camp also owns bungalows with private entrances, lounges, bathrooms, and separate bedrooms. This is a perfect place for families and guests looking for privacy.
Algarve Watersport offers beginner kiteboarding lessons with motivational and professional kite instructions, and independent kite riders are welcome to use their transport and safety infrastructure, pick up some pro hints, and science the heck out of kiteboarding. This kitesurfing camp is not only about progression and achievement but also about fun, community, and comfort. After a kite session, your adrenaline level will be (excuse the pun) as high as a kite.
Communal areas like the pool, bar, and cozy “couch of happiness” are created, perfect for chilling and hanging out. Algarve Watersport team believes in the power of motivation. You will meet with watersport enthusiasts worldwide, learn and improve together, and share knowledge and passion. Everyone has an individual goal, it can be the first step of kiting or jumping higher, your instructors will help you to reach your aim safely and fast.
During a kite camp, you will be made comfortable on the spot and adapt the lesson to your level, so you do not have to go over lessons again and you improve your technique day by day. And what if there is no wind? Algarve Watersport guarantees always action! Try surfing, windsurfing, wing foiling, or wakeboarding instead, go on a SUP tour around the coast of Lagos, or join a yoga session.
Kiteboarding combines elements of surfing, wakeboarding, and snowboarding with traction kites and paragliding flying skills. Learning kiteboarding at Algarve Watersport kite camp, you will be coached by multilingual, certified, and highly trained IKO and VDWS instructors. They have modern teaching methods supported by boat assistance and video analysis for better learning progress upon request. The kite equipment is renewed every year to ensure safety and comfort.
The North, Cabrinha, and Shinn kiteboards cover all levels, from the absolute beginner to the advanced kiter. For advanced kiters with licenses, you will be offered full equipment rental and shuttle service to and from the kite lagoon. You will be taught in small groups, never exceeding four students per instructor. This allows for the perfect balance of teaching and practice time during your three-hour session.
It typically takes around six to nine hours to grasp the fundamentals of kitesurfing. Consequently, within a span of two to three days, one can acquire the skills to safely control the kite, know safety systems, and understand the fundamentals of body dragging and starting with the board. The majority of the students try their first time riding the board on the second or third day, previously learning all necessary steps like: set up, kite control, body dragging, and body dragging with the board.
Daily yoga lessons will be scheduled in the morning and afternoon so every camp member can join the yoga outside their chosen watersport. Since you set the timing for your classes to get the best condition, yoga timing will be set around it every week so everyone can do at least one yoga daily. There will be no yoga on Sundays.
Jakob will teach kiting to anyone and anywhere. As a geography student, he is the one in the crew who understands the wind.
You will have your kitesurf lesson at the lagoon, located between Lagos and Alvor in the Algarve. The big lagoon offers ideal conditions to learn and practice kiteboarding with perfectly flat and shallow water. The Algarve coastline is regulated by licenses which ensure that there are only sanctioned schools teaching there for minimal water traffic.
The lagoon which is situated at the end of Meia Praia beach always has a pleasant temperature. It is a safe place even with the off-shore wind because of the sand island in the middle of the lagoon. The shallow low tides will make this lagoon a perfect place to practice and learn to kitesurf.
The Nortada, the Portuguese north wind, gets accelerated by the surrounding landscape which allows the wind to speed up to 20 knots while other parts of the Algarve remain calm. Among many others, this is one of the reasons the PKRA (the kiteboarding professional tour) stops once a year. You will be taken to an island in the middle of the lagoon which offers steady wind for maximum perfect learning conditions. The location of the surf camp is 75 minutes from Faro Airport (FAO).
