This package is for or those who want to learn more about the art of surfing in addition to spending as much time as possible in the ocean during their stay in beautiful Costa Rica. Aguatibia Surf School will also take you out for dinner at a local restaurant to have some delicious Tico food and mingle with the locals. At the end of your stay, they will have a selection of your surf pictures that you can take home with you!
The hostel offers dorm style rooms with bunk beds that sleep five to six people, personal lockers (bring your own lock or but one from the staff), and a private bathroom with shower. Linens are provided while towels are available for purchase. There are also two bathrooms for all to use. They also offer two private rooms. The hostel staff is on duty 24 hours.
Aguatiibia Surf School's instructors will guide you step by step, starting by teaching you how to seek out the right surfing conditions for your skill level. You will be taught about safety, wave conditions, and equipment, followed by some warm-up exercises and pop-up practice on the beach. Then, while constantly getting feedback, you will be taught to paddle correctly, pop-up, and balance on your board.
First, they will help you learn what type and size board is right for you and teach you how to carry and handle your board in and out of the water. You will learn how to seek out the right surf conditions including tides, wind, dangers in the water, and the surf venue. Not only will you learn how to pop up properly with a good stance, but also how to catch and time your own waves to surf.
As the instructors help build your confidence so you can catch your own waves, their goal is to make the learning process fun. Just like any new sport, surfing has it’s own level of difficulty, but with good practice and concentration, everyone can learn and improve. Some people will get it in their first lesson, though for others it may take a little more practice.
As a surf instructor, Adrian is very patient, funny, supportive, and positive. He believes he has a very nice way of approaching people and understanding their needs. What he loves most about his job is when people smile and fall in love with surfing. Adrian also loves that he's always in contact with nature and get to meet so many cool people.
Andrew is patient, but more than being patient, he has learned that everyone learns in different ways, so when he teaches, he tries to adapt his own way of teaching to that individual even when he teaches in groups. In doing that, Andrew has seen amazing results in people’s surfing.
Danny is very patient with the students and he helps them with everything he is able to, in the sand and the water, and tries to make them have a good time. He also loves to help all of the students and show them the beauty of surfing.
Alfredo started surfing 13 years ago when had nothing else to do because he broke his bike and also stopped playing football. As a surf instructor, Alfredo is a perfectionist and knowledgable. What he loves most about his job is when clients say "It's so fun!".
This surf camp will take place in Playa Guiones, Nosara, Costa Rica. The hostel is just steps away from the beach. They have a clean and inviting kitchen for cooking your own food and a great living room for socializing with other people or watching movies. There is a patio with hammocks where you can relax with a good book while listening to the waves and the howler monkeys.

"My husband and I recently traveled to Nosara to try out surfing and our host told us that the instructors at Aguatibia are the best in the world. We don't doubt it! We were worried that we would need advance reservations to make sure that we got lessons, given all the fantastic reviews and increasing popularity of Nosara, but we forget that life outside the East Coast is less rigid and uptight; everything is more relaxed. When we walked up, Danny greeted us and said we could have a lesson that day if we wanted (we did). He was everything you could want in an instructor - clear, patient, and encouraging. While there was quite a bit of falling at first, we were able to stand on the board and ride the white water all the way to the beach in one lesson! It was tons of fun, and if we had more time, we definitely would have taken more lessons! Danny was great. Pura vida!"
"If you want to make new friends, enjoy life, have a good time, and the best surf experience, come and meet this family."
"Thanks to Adrian and Andrew for a fantastic time and lessons while in Nosara. They are awesome coaches: patient and knowledgable. Flexible to accommodate our schedule. We want to go back for a month to hang out with them. Love you guys!"
"I have just got back from an amazing few weeks in Nosara where I rented my board from Aguatibia and took a few lessons with Adrian. I have only good things to say about my experience. All the guys are great and Adrian is an amazing instructor who helped me get to the next level in my surfing. He is really calming and you feel completely safe when out on the water. I had the best time and highly recommend Aguatibia to anyone looking to learn to surf or improve on your skills. Pura vida. I'll definitely be back."
