Agnes Water Beach Club is the ultimate tropical holiday location. With isolated beaches, stunning coastal scenery, walking tracks, and easy access to the great barrier reef, it has everything you need for an unforgettable holiday!
The spacious one bedroom fully self-contained apartments are the perfect base from which to explore Agnes Water and the 1770 region. Everything you need is right here at your fingertips and you’ll never want to leave.
The rooms feature a fully equipped kitchen, a large balcony with an alfresco dining area, and your own private barbecue. At the heart of the Beach Club, you'll find the heated swimming pool and very popular poolside barbecue area.
So if you’re feeling like being a little social, you could head down to the heated pool, crank up the poolside barbecue in the sun-drenched courtyard and cook up some locally caught fresh fish.
5Compliment that with some fresh produce from the Sunday Grower’s Market and a banana lounge you’ve got yourself a fiesta and siesta rolled into one!
Located at the very heart of Agnes Water, Agnes Water Beach Club is ideally positioned close to shops and cafes, as well as being just a short stroll (350 meters) from the patrolled beach and Australia’s northern-most surf break.
The Agnes Water-1770 region is surrounded by the Deep Water National Park, the Eurimbula National Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, blessed with pristine beaches (where you’ll often encounter nobody else) and home to the east coast's northernmost point break.
Thank goodness it is just a little too far off the highway to have ever become a tourist mecca. Being just a little off the beaten track makes Agnes Water Beach Club one of the last remaining small seaside communities on the east coast. Here you'll find fellow travelers and adventurers rather than tourists.
The modestly sized reef boats offer easy access to Lady Musgrave Island and the Southern Great Barrier Reef, one of the most pristine parts of the Great Barrier Reef. Just like Agnes and 1770, it's a little too far off the beaten track to attract bus, train or plane loads of tourists.
For those who love water sports, the warm waters of Agnes are perfect for swimming, surfing, diving, and snorkeling all year round. For naturalists, there's a dugong colony, sea turtles nest and hatch here annually, migrating humpback whales cruise by and the bird watching is spectacular. Those who love to 4WD come here for the national parks and if you’d prefer to walk then there are hundreds deserted trails for you to wander.
Food packages can be arranged on request with the local café and tavern to supply guests with breakfast, lunch and/or dinner. For guests wanting to venture out while on holiday, there are a range of boutique cafes and restaurants within walking distance of the Beach Club. Please see reception staff for local recommendations.
1770 Distillery was established as a Boutique Distillery to utilize the locally grown fruits of the area and to provide a unique experience for both locals and tourists. The making of liqueurs is as an age old artisan skill handed down by generations of ardent distillers. They make all of their liqueurs in hand made copper pot stills. All of the liqueurs are made with fresh fruits, herbs, and spices.
The distillery is open Wednesday through to Monday and closed on Tuesday. The operating hours for the distillery are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Tastings are free. So why not drop in and experience something different whilst in 1770 / Agnes Water.
Sand board from the towering dunes of Middle Island. Kayak through the waters of Jenny Lin Creek. Take the Motorized Boats for a zoom and explore the natural wonders of the beautiful island.
Agnes Water Seafood is a one-woman operation, Kylie sells out of her refrigerated van at the local servo’, with a good novel and her dog by her side but don’t think for one minute that this isn’t a classy operation. It’s all class!
Next time you stay at Beach Club, be sure to go to the servo’ and meet Kylie, because nothing tastes better than fresh caught fish cooked your way. Cook it in your fully equipped kitchen, cook it on the barbecue on your veranda or cook it by the pool! Why not couple it with fresh locally grown produce from Ron’s farm and really make a local event of it?
One of the best things about Agnes is being able to buy fresh, locally grown produce direct from the farmer. This is one of the best ways to reduce your carbon footprint: no packaging, no transportation, no refrigeration.
And if that’s not enough to make you feel warm and fuzzy, knowing that the profit goes directly to the grower might. Plus you’ll be surprised by how much you save when you don’t have a multi-national siphoning profit off the top. So pop on over to Ron’s and join the local food evolution.
The Goolimbil Walkabout is positively Vaudevillian! What a wonderful show! Ronnie the indigenous guide and Neil the naturalist are a magnificent team. There are quirky delights for kids and there’s plenty of meat on the bone for grown ups. There is something for everyone in this slow stroll through the Eurimbula National Park. You can book this trip at the Agnes Waters Beach Club reception.
LARC stands for Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo and they are so well designed for access to the national park that they were used in the area to supply the Bustard Head Light House long before the Mergards started their quirky hot pink tours.
The LARC can simply take you to places that no other vehicle could. The three river crossings would stop a four-wheel drive and a boat is largely restricted to waterways - a LARC knows no such boundaries.
You can do full-day, half-day or afternoon cruises on the LARC, pop down to reception and they can talk you through the trips and book them for you.
The Lazy Lizard Surf School is located in Codie’s Café, a one-minute walk down the road from the Beach Club and right next to the main beach at Agnes, so they couldn’t be more conveniently situated. Somehow the Lazy Lizard manages to seamlessly combine laid back and totally professional ensuring that you’re having so much fun that you have absolutely no idea how much you’re learning!
Lazy Lizard is not a production-line learn to surf school. With strict eight to one student-teacher ratios in their very well priced group lessons, you can be confident that you you’ll get the attention you need and the outcome you want.
The town of 1770 / Agnes Water is the only place on the east coast of Australia, where you can watch an ocean sunset from a kayak! Agnes Water and the Town of 1770 are part of the southern great barrier reef - where great begins! Here, you can discover untouched and pristine nature, secluded beaches and plenty of fun.
If you are looking for something to do while visiting the area, you have come to the right place. Are you ready for a real kayak adventure? At 1770 Liquid Adventures, they offer small scale personal experiences. There is something to do for everyone.
They offer guided kayak tours and kayak hire at affordable prices. The very experienced and friendly guides will show you the best this areas has to offer.
Spending a day with Arty Cipak from Moondoggie Beach and Bush Tours is a 'must do' while in Agnes Water - 1770. From the moment you meet, Arty will start creating your personal adventure. It doesn’t matter what your age, your interests, your level of experience or your fitness, Arty will find out what you like, how experienced you are and he'll craft you a perfect day.
On the trailer behind his 4WD he has surfboards, SUPs, and kayaks (and you can always bring your own) - he doesn’t even mind giving lessons! If you’re experienced though, he can take you to the best deserted surf spots and carve it up with you.
If you love to be at one with nature he can take you to birdlife rich creeks and billabongs and he’ll paddle alongside of you pointing out all the things you’ve missed. If you just want to chill, he can take you to the best secluded rock pools. If you love to hike then Arty knows the most incredible lookouts and sunset spots and along the way he’ll teach you things that will remain with you forever.
The Redrock trail is a spectacular walk along deserted beaches and cliff edges. Starting at Springs Beach, the walk generally takes about four hours (at a slow pace with lots of swims).
This is not a people walk it's a wildlife walk - and the wildlife abounds: whales, dolphins, turtles, osprey, sea eagles, goannas and roos and no people for four hours. What a treat!
It's not the best marked trail and markers tend to thin out the further along you go, but since you're basically trying to hug the coast there is little chance of actually getting lost. Pop down to reception for a map to Springs and then head south along the coast until you're ready to come home.
Agnes Water has been a ‘learn to surf destination’ with international tourists for many decades. It’s the northern-most point break on the east coast of Australia and conditions here are almost always perfect for learners. The swell tends to be wind swell rather than ocean swell, which is less powerful and therefore less intimidating for beginners and Agnes is famous for its ‘fun little waves’.
The other reason it’s such a popular place to learn to surf is Wayne (Grom) Mellick at Reef 2 Beach Surf Shop. Grom’s classes are some of the cheapest on the east coast with a three-hour lesson costing only 25 AUD.
Grom lines them up with military precision and it’s easy to see how his team has managed to teach more than 100,000 people to surf with his tried and tested techniques. His voice booms over the waves “paddle, paddle, paddle, stand up, stand up!” and forms part of the fabric of life on the beach all year round. His classes are great value for money and loads of fun.
If you want to "Stand Up!" then grab some surf lessons with Grom while you're at the Beach Club.
There are so many wonderful walks in Agnes - 1770 and the Paperbark Forest is so close and so inspiring. Just a two-minute drive up Springs Road and it’s pretty much immediately roadside. Nothing could be easier. No matter what time of the day or night you do it, the light through the trees is always magnificent. Kids will love the stepping stones and big kids will too!
Did you know that the color of coral is determined by the type of algae that grows on it? Coral isn’t colorful - the algae is! The coral and the algae live in a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship. The algae use photosynthesis to produce nutrients, which the coral consumes. The coral in turn produces waste, which the algae consume as a nutrient.
There are a number of different operators running out to Lady Musgrave but the only one that isn't a private charter is 1770 Reef.
1770 SUP is owned and operated by legendary waterman and pioneer of stand up paddle in Australia, Chris de Aboitiz. Stand up paddle surfing is a traditional Hawaiian sport which promotes balance, strength, and general fitness. It's a great activity for the whole family. It's also a fun and exciting way to view the stunning waterways of 1770.
This is without doubt one of the best ways to get back to nature and a unique method of transport for avid bird watchers. Keep your eyes out for ospreys, white-bellied sea-eagles, herons and eastern curlews as you paddle.
If you're more confident on the SUP you might like to head out to the sand bar and try a bit of SUP surfing. When conditions are right you can have perfect waves all to yourself. 1770 SUP caters for all skill levels and offers lessons, tours, and board hire.
Spa Treatments are not included in price, but are available at Fragrant Earth- located in the shopping complex next door to the Beach Club. For a full list of treatments and prices, please see the reception staff.
