Designed around the vernacular style of the property's original Dutch owner, 3 Sisters takes its name from the expatriate owners' 3 daughters. The owners have taken the once simple cottage and created the beautiful beach retreat that it is today. While staying faithful to key features of the original Dutch-style cottage, including a sweeping veranda and high ceilings throughout the house, 3 Sisters mixes modern touches with the rich antiquities of Sri Lanka.

The property is perched above a secluded beach that is accessed from a private staircase in the property's coconut grove. The beach is one of the most popular in the area for surfing with its clean waves breaking over sandbars just a short paddle from the shore.

Poolside Room

The Poolside bedroom opens up to the living room with views over the pool and garden that extend to the Indian Ocean, which is literally at your doorstep.

Courtyard Room

With a separate entrance from the veranda, the Courtyard bedroom enjoys the privacy of its own open-air private courtyard ideal for relaxing over a book and a cup of tea or showering off after a late afternoon swim in the sea.

The Loft

Upstairs is the Loft, a unique and spacious open plan living area with its own external entrance which is perfect for a young family or a great space for the kids to bunk while the parents enjoy the privacy of downstairs. With views overlooking the pool, beach, and ocean, the Loft is a real gem that makes 3 Sisters a special beach house distinct from your typical “tropical villa”.

The Surf, Sea, and Pool

3 Sisters is perched on the edge of the majestic Indian Ocean. While this is a spectacular sight, the majesty demands caution and reverence. There are rips, tides, invisible currents, etc. and all swimmers must be wary and respectful of the Indian Ocean's power. Children should NEVER be left unsupervised on the beach, in or out of the water.

3 Sisters has a divine infinity pool for guests' use. It is the responsibility of guests to take reasonable care when using the pool. 3 Sisters' staff are not responsible for monitoring guests using the pool. Again, with no exception, children should not be left unsupervised near or in the pool.

3 Sisters is situated on the southern tip of the island just beyond the town of Matara and is one of the South’s most beautiful and inviting beach houses.

A beach holiday would not be complete without great food. With markets in Matara selling locally caught seafood and fresh produce, along with modern supermarkets, 3 Sisters' staff can prepare memorable spreads for your breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Enjoying time with family and friends is at the heart of the cuisine at 3 Sisters.

3 Sisters loves preparing meals for you, you can help them by letting them know at the beginning of each day what your meal plans are for lunch and dinner for that day.

The best way to describe 3 Sisters' approach to dining is simple, think great homecooked food but with someone else doing all the cooking for you! The menu is homely and sure to please. If you have special dietary requirements or fussy little eaters, then the staff will do their best to assist and please don't be shy between meals. If you are feeling peckish, thirsty, or would like a cup of tea or coffee, then please ask the staff and they will look after your request.

Breakfast is a wonderful spread of Sri Lankan and Western classics with seasonal fruits, locally baked breads, jams, roti, curries, and eggs; however you like them.

After a morning of beaching or lounging around the house, lunchtime is usually a lazy part of the day so it is kept simple, tasty, but plentiful. From the menu, you can enjoy either a selection of vegetarian curries, pasta and salad, or a platter of sandwiches, it's all up to you.

Whether under the veranda or on the deck with the stars overhead, dinner is always a special time and 3 Sisters is positive that you will thank them for keeping the cuisine local. The fish, prawn, chicken, or pork curries are some of the best you will have while in Sri Lanka and the selection of seasonal vegetarian curries are simply amazing.

Drinking water is provided at 3 Sisters, you are not recommended to drink the tap water. While alcohol is freely available in Sri Lanka, duties are applied. If you plan on relaxing by the pool with a glass of wine, you are recommended to take advantage of the duty-free alcohol entitlements when coming into the country. If you forget or would rather not carry wine and beer on the trip down to 3 Sisters, the staff will be happy to purchase alcohol for you in Matara.

Alcohol is not served in public establishments such as hotels, cafes, and restaurants on the Sri Lankan religious holiday of Poya, which falls on the full moon every month.
